What to do if I am being bullied?

Talk to someone you trust

You don’t have to go through this alone. Tell a friend, a parent, or a teacher. They want to help you.

You are not alone

Even if it feels that way, many kids experience bullying. It is not your fault!

Set clear boundaries

If you feel safe, you can say directly: “Stop, that hurts.”

Avoid the bully if possible

Walk away if the situation escalates and find a safe place.

Document the bullying

Write down what happens or take screenshots if it occurs online.

Seek support

Teachers, school counselors, or other adults can help solve the situation.

Take care of yourself

Do things that make you happy to feel better and boost your confidence.

Surround yourself with people who respect you

True friends support you and make you feel stronger.

Remember your strengths

You are valuable and unique. Don’t let others take that away from you.

Keep asking for help if the bullying doesn’t stop

No one should have to endure bullying – you have the right to be supported!

How can I help others without becoming a target?

Be a friend

Spend time with the person being bullied. It helps them feel supported.

Stay neutral but take a stand

You don’t have to start a conflict, but you can say, “That’s not okay.”

Find allies

Get friends who also want to help – you are stronger together.

Inform a trusted adult

Talk to a teacher or another adult if you are worried.

Be a role model

Treat others with kindness and respect – your actions make a difference.

Ask how you can help

Everyone needs support in different ways. Ask: “What can I do for you?”

How can you stay safe online?

Use strong passwords

Combine letters, numbers, and symbols to secure your accounts.

Don’t share personal details

Keep your address, phone number, or school information private.

Be careful with friend requests

Only accept people you know in real life.

Report cyberbullying

If you receive offensive messages, tell an adult or report it on the platform.

Recognize warning signs

If something feels wrong, talk to someone you trust.

Take screenshots

If someone bullies or harasses you, save the evidence

Take breaks from screens

Too much time online can be overwhelming – give yourself a break.

Talk about your online experiences

Parents, teachers, or friends can help with concerns or problems.

Think critically about media

Check facts before believing or sharing them – not everything online is true.

Protect your privacy

Set your profile to private so only friends can see your posts.
